The people who
built Grouse.
Josh founded Grouse; Ben came on as an owner because he believes in what it’s building. The two of them write the programming, coach the sessions, and train alongside everyone else most days of the week. Both are dads, fitting real training around real family life. Ask either what they’re training for, and they’ll have an answer.

Josh Chiodo
Head Coach & FounderJosh trains for things with start lines: ultra marathons, marathons, halves, Spartans, trail running. He’s still out most weeks for multiple runs, and in for multiple sessions at Grouse alongside everyone else. Running and lifting in equal measure, because training more than one thing keeps you better for longer. That belief shapes everything Grouse does.
He started Grouse to build the gym he couldn’t find: good programming, honest coaching, people treated like adults. As a coach he works with the whole picture: how you move, and how training fits your life. He works out what each person needs and coaches to it.
Out there
Ben Plowman
Head Coach & OwnerBen played basketball for a decade, and still plays and coaches it now, alongside lifting most days and the occasional run, to stay useful and mobile for as long as possible. Sport taught him how athletic bodies adapt; an Exercise Science degree gave him the framework to explain why.
His coaching is calm and methodical. He’ll spot what’s off in your movement before you feel it, and explain it clearly rather than just telling you to do it differently. He’ll make sure you understand what you’re doing and why.
